Your character is comprised of 21 distinct qualities that distinguish you from other people. Character is a constant standard that enables you to evaluate your daily performance and helps you to determine to what extent you have control, discipline, order, and precision in your life. This report is part two (2 of 4) of a four part series, which explains 21 distinct character traits.

Character represents your disposition and trademark. Your character demonstrates and predicts your conduct. Character is a reflection of your power, and control over your mind, body, and spirit. Having it represents high standards. Not having it represents the lack thereof.

Character is a holistic concept. Your character encompasses a wide range of mind, body and spiritual qualities. The concept of living with character is that it is the soil from which productive life performance grows.

To understand the holistic concept of character, you must utilize these 21 specific character traits. To encourage you to utilize these character traits, and therefore, to enhance your effectiveness, we have listed the 21 character traits that are the most important.

5. Work Effort

Work effort is a voluntary exertion. It is performing strenuously. It is demonstrating the drive and possessing the energy to labor with all your might to achieve goals. It is to strive and toil tirelessly in a practical and effective manner.

6. Courage

Courage is conduct that is bold, spirited, and brave. Courage is having a "Warrior's Mentality". It is having the nerve, guts, or stomach to persevere when others retreat. It is an attitude of persistence and is having the backbone and tenacity to stay the course. Courage is having the resolve to face doubt, fear, and pain sometimes, against overwhelming odds.

7. Discipline

Discipline is obedience and restraint. It is your mind's control over your body and spirit. Discipline is utilizing your inner strength to force your body and spirit to comply with the action your mind commands. Discipline is accomplishing the hard tasks and making the hard decisions that lead to ultimate success and victory.

8. Honesty

Honesty is conduct that is trustworthy. It is conduct that is upright, fair, sincere, and truthful. It is saying what you mean and doing what you say. Honesty is more than not telling a lie… it is telling the truth. It is living up to the spirit of an agreement, word or bond between responsible parties.

9. Humility

Humility is being humble. It is control over one's ego or self. It is being modest in success and victory. Humility is sharing credit with others for your success. It is being a "good winner" by appreciating and respecting the competition and their effort. It is a balanced ego.

10. Virtue

Virtue is conduct that is noble, righteous, and praiseworthy. It is performing good deeds and demonstrating good behavior. It is a trait similar to chivalry shared by the Knights of King Arthur as they fought with gallantry and honor. It is being moral, sound, and upright.
