Win with the 5 Most Difficult Objections You Get
Once I found myself teaching an online customer relationship management (CRM) course. I’ve done a lot of sales training in my career but I am no IT expert. It was a little intimidating for me. My first class was a disaster it was like a foreign world to me.
My Discovery
Then I discovered something interesting in all my confusion. There were about five main functions of this CRM program. I focused on learning just those five real good.
My very next class was a dramatic improvement. (But I must confess it wouldn’t have taken much to show a dramatic improvement from my first disaster class.) I was confident and knew what I was talking about and my students were actually getting it. Learning those five main functions made all the difference.
What’s this got to do with overcoming objections?
I have sold a number of different products in my sales career and early on I discovered something interesting about my customer’s objections. I notice there were about five or so common difficult objections I keep getting from my customers regarding the product I was selling.
So I learned and tested the best ways to overcome those five most common difficult objections. Within a short time I became confident and successful in overcoming those objections and my sales and commissions showed significant improvement.
Another great bonus was instead of objections being frustrating problems they turned into exciting solutions for me and my customers. It made selling more fun.
So what is my recommendation to you?
- Start keeping a simple check list on the different objections you get from customers. Soon you will have some powerful information on the most common objections you get. Pick the top 5 or so (not too many) most common objections your getting.
- Find the best solutions for those objections. This is worth doing a little product research on because it will pay you more commissions over and over again. Two good resources are your sales manager and product supplier.
- First role play your solutions with a friend. Then test your solutions with your customers. Make adjustments or do a little more research where needed.
Doing this in a commissioned sales job earns you more money and makes your job more fun.
